LIS joins the #LearningPlanet community

27th April

Posted by Diana Alvarez

We’re excited to announce that we’ve officially joined the #LearningPlanet community!

Launched in January 2020 by CRI and UNESCO, #LearningPlanet is an open alliance of educational stakeholders and learning communities with a cause. #LearningPlanet’s mission is to inspire and empower learners of all ages to contribute to shaping better futures.

Building on its international community of pioneers, #LearningPlanet identifies, develops and amplifies the most effective ways to collectively solve the world’s most pressing and complex challenges. It is a long-term initiative, gathering stakeholders from around the world in order to identify, celebrate, enhance and scaleup innovative educational solutions towards sustainable futures that ensure the respect, well-being and fulfilment of oneself, the others and the planet.

#LearningPlanet creates multiple opportunities throughout the year to celebrate learning experiences and communities. The annual #LearningPlanet Festival, which celebrates the International Day of Education on the 24th of January, and the July Assembly, an annual rendezvous to co-build the community and its activities and provide additional occasions to meaningfully collaborate, are two important events that take place annually. We’re looking forward to attending the Assembly later this summer and building collaborative opportunities among other members of the #LearningPlanet community, which includes Harvard, UNICEF, and Catalyst 2030.

Dr. Ash Brockwell, an artist, writer, and consultant and part of the LIS founding faculty, reflects on his experience as a #LearningPlanet member. He says:

It’s really exciting to be part of #LearningPlanet global community of facilitators working at the cutting edge of inclusive and interdisciplinary education for the Sustainable Development Goals. I’ve learned so much from other members already and am looking forward to participating in the #LearningPlanet Global Assembly in July.’

We’re looking forward to collaborating with individuals and organisations who share our vision for a better, more sustainable future.

Visit the #LearningPlanet website and find out how you too can get involved in the #LearningPlanet community.
